Choosing a mode
Draw odds has three modes. Choose one based on what you want to know and how much of the card play you want to automate.
| Mode | Question it answers | How cards are played | Calculation |
|---|---|---|---|
| Set steps | If I play cards in this order, will I have the cards I want? | Exactly in the order you lined up | Recalculates as soon as you change a setting |
| Set deadline | By which turn am I likely to have the cards I want? | Automatically plays usable cards from the top of the Priority list (no retreating or evolution Item cards) | Light. Run with Calculate odds |
| Set goal | How likely am I to reach a target state on turn n? | Plays as well as possible for the cards drawn (including evolving, retreating and evolution Item cards) | Heavy. Complex conditions may fail to compute |
Which one to use
- To compare ways of playing particular cards → Set steps. It suits comparing orders, such as “Poké Ball first” versus “Professor's Research first”.
- To see how consistent the whole deck is → Set deadline. Once you set the priority of your draw cards, you immediately see the odds for each turn.
- To check goals that include the board state → Set goal. Use it for goals involving evolution or what is in the Battle spot and on the Bench. It shows whether the deck can reach the goal without deciding every play yourself.
Set deadline and Set goal play cards automatically by fixed rules, so their choices can differ from how you would actually play. Treat results that include cards marked “Slightly less accurate odds” or “Much less accurate odds” as estimates.
